Long-distance move from Cleveland, OH to Brooklyn, NY

LB Moving/Margaret Drayton.

The operators of carriers (State to State and Direct Van Lines, both out of New York) that have been used by LBMG were recently indicted in federal court in NY. I am investigating whether there is more than a mere superficial business relationship between Drayton/LB and the Nadels (owners/operators of the carriers under indictment).

Someone also mentioned a bankruptcy filing of LB. I can find no indication that LB has filed bankruptcy. If LB is making representation to avoid paying a claim, and you believe that the scheme of the carriers extends to Florida, you should contact the US Attorney's office handling the prosecution of the carriers (Eastern District of NY, Case No. 1:19-cr-00943-ENV) as well as the Florida and Colorado Attorneys' General offices.

Desirable and Efficient Movers.

I will give Liberty bell moving group company 10 stars if there is option for that. This is the most ethical, respectful and a company full of friendly personnel I have ever worked with. Though the amount I paid was a little bit high, but it was all fun. I’m surprised to have such experience, because most times, moving is just headache. Or should I call it a game of luck. Whichever way, I really enjoyed the way the worked for me and the way we related to each other. If I will move any time soon, I will still use them. I recommend them to persons that enjoys friendly atmosphere.

Long-distance move from Gibsonia, PA to Broomfield, CO

Customer service was horrible, Chose a horrible mover for my move.

Liberty Bell failed in every aspect of my move except for collecting money from me:  Below are a list of my complaints:
1.  Initial estimate was 49.3% of my final move cost. and only increased slightly in their last QA when I advised they were way under.  Result was that my move cost almost double the initial estimate.
2.  I asked numerous times for a quote on full value insurance and was ignored via both email and phone..
3.  My move was "QA'd" 1 day prior to pickup and I was asked to pay another large sum to secure a second truck which I told them from the second I signed with them would be needed.
4. Pickup occurred a day late because of a Liberty Bell paperwork issue in not providing the paperwork to the moving company.  I was promised a $250 refund in August for their error and have yet to receive it.  This contributed to the damage as the mover had to rush loading due to the delay.
5. The mover damaged 100 of my items and Liberty Bell was little to no help resolving the issue with them other then lending a sympathetic ear.
6.  The phone numbers for the moving company that performed my move are now disconnected and my damage claim is unresolved.

Liberty Bell Moving Group may only be a broker, but they gave me no choice on the moving company they chose and the mover they chose was by no means professional.   Watch out for the terms of their contract as they are only favorable to Liberty Bell and not the consumer.  Have a lawyer review them for you before you sign or go with a full service moving company.  On a side note, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-yo…) gives a list of red flags to watch out for with moving fraud.  The first 2 flags listed failed for my move:-
- The mover doesn't offer or agree to an onsite inspection of your household goods and gives an estimate over the telephone or online -- sight unseen. These estimates often sound too good to be true.
- The moving company demands cash or a large deposit before the move,

In addition, I was contacted by Kevin on Wednesday 11/8 (one of Liberty Bell's managers) as a result of negative ratings I posted and my credit card company calling them to dispute the transactions. I was offered a sum of money for my troubles with the condition that I remove all negative ratings from all sites that I have posted them on and I sign a legal agreement to that effect,  Definitely an interesting way to manage ratings..   In addition, he promised to follow up with me on 11/9 between 9 and 11 am on my counter offer on the resolution amount after reviewing this with the owner.  A week later, I am still waiting for the phone call even though I've left multiple messages following up with them.   This is the exact pattern of customer service I experienced throughout my interactions with Liberty Bell.  Every time I was promised something, there was no follow up by the company's staff and I only received follow up after I initiated and by chance caught someone on the phone.  If you decide to use this company, only pay with a credit card you can dispute transactions and full understand the timeline you have to submit a dispute,.

**DO NOT USE LB MOVING GROUP, AKA Liberty Bell Moving Group.

8/13/2018
Do not use LB Moving Group, AKA Liberty Bell Moving Group. They are the most unprofessional company we have ever worked with, our relocation from CA to SC has been a complete nightmare. We only found out on the day of our relocation that they are brokers & when things go wrong with the company that they have assigned to move you they take no responsibility. I should have done more research, I have subsequently found out that they have an F rating with the BBB and that they are not accredited with them either. In addition, they have received 64 complaints against them in the past 12months. This is not our first relocation, we have moved internationally & state to state so we are familiar with the process. They under quote, when I questioned why their pricing was lower than 5 other quotes I received, I was told that they utilize DOT software & that their quoting was more accurate, I have subsequently found out that all moving companies use the same software. I even gave Crystal Zaccagnini the weigh & CF from the other companies & she told me that we were receiving a 65.88% discount because they had an empty truck that they needed to fill from CA to SC. I then asked her to include an additional 1000lbs. Do not be fooled by their special discounts, they under quote to lure you in & then on the day you must find the extra cash, by then your furniture is loaded & you have no choice. To date we have not received a final invoice or a response to the multiple e-mails we have sent Sam Galluzzi with our questions. We were quoted 1 month of free storage and thereafter $500pm, we have now been told it's $1700 pm & our furniture is sitting in NY. On the day of the move 2 guys from State to State Moving NY who were unprepared for our move arrived late in 2 small budget trucks, we were told by Crystal our goods would be transported in a 18-wheeler. I phoned LB & spoke to Neal Jones, expressing our concerns he assured me not to worry. The packing & loading was supposed to take place 6/26 AND 6/27 & we were supposed to leave CA for SC at 7am on 06/28 to make the drive where my husband was starting his new job on 7/2. By 8:30pm on the night of 6/27 they were nowhere near finished, the driver said they had asked for help and that they would be back at 6am to finish off & we would still make our 1st nights hotel accommodation. Again, we called LB, spoke to Shannon & expressed concern, she assured us not to worry & she would call us back, she never did. The driver never arrived as promised, we were on the phone to Shannon for 4 1/2 hrs trying to track down the driver, more concerning was that they were unable to get hold of the moving comp. they had assigned! They finally arrived at 12:30pm (6hrs late) with 4 unexperienced HS students, when I asked Charles why they were late, & why did he not respond to our calls he became confrontational & told me he didn't care. We subsequently found out that he told his boss that he had been packing until 12:30am. They finally finished packing & loading at 9:43PM,we were then handed a piece of paper & told that we had to pay an additional $5738 This was in addition to the $3240.99 deposit & $2975 money order payment we had, the move was going to cost us more than double the quoted amount of $9190. At this point we were a day late, we had lost our hotel booking, & had nowhere to sleep. My husband landed up starting his job later and lost pay because of it. We have been trying to get our furniture delivered for 3 weeks to SC, from State to State NY. Every week we get told by Joe they can't confirm a delivery date because they are too busy, with other deliveries, so we wait, they don't put anything in writing, so it is hard to plan . We are paying for an apartment & a storage unit we can't use, my daughter starts school on 8/20. Sam Galluzzi at LB tells me today 8/13 that our furniture will be delivered on Thur or Fri, this week, when I ask if this is definite I am told "no promises, everything is strictly estimates" BEWARE, there is no such thing as a good deal, do not use this company!

Do not use LB Moving Group, AKA Liberty Bell Moving Group, they are a moving broker and assign a moving company on your behalf, in our case STATE TO STATE MOVERS NY.
They quoted $9190 for our move, final amount was $17 426.01. They offered a $2000 CR for the inconvenience, pain & suffering we received, on condition that we sign an agreement not to make any negative or disparaging statements against LB MOVING GROUP LLC, we opted NOT to accept the Credit as we feel that it is important that the public is made aware of their poor business practices. This company is NOT in the moving business, if they were they would have an insight into the fact that moving is very stressful, instead, they add to the stress by lying, being dishonest and over promising and under delivering. We finally received our furniture, lots of broken, damaged and missing pieces, and furniture that does not even belong to us!

Long-distance move from Frederick, MD to West Chester, PA

Just the facts, no drama.

Please read this entire review and know that these are the facts of my experience. I tried to eliminate any drama or exaggeration. If you do not want to read the whole review, the summary is that no one should ever hire this company. They are unorganized, have terrible customer service and do not care at all about the customer, except for getting their money. If I could give them minus 5 stars, I would.

Liberty Bell Moving Group was difficult to deal with from the beginning. Leahh was my original salesperson. She was personable. I signed up. I thought it was weird that it was cash/bank transfer only for the deposit, but I moved forward anyway. Leahh started not answering emails. Finally, I called the company only to find out she had left. No email to her clients giving them a new point person. Then I spoke to Shannon, who did not answer any of my emails. I called again. Then I got Jessica, who was my scheduling person. My move was supposed to happen on Sunday or Monday. I called on Thursday to find out the details of my move. It took until Saturday night at 4:10pm for Bill to finally actually confirm that my move was happening at 5pm that day, Saturday night. Again, I thought that was unusual, but the faster the better.

5pm- no movers
5:30pm- no movers, I call Jessica. She answered and said she would call the driver and have him call me.
6pm- no call, no movers, I call Jessica again. From this point on, no one answered my calls.
6:30pm- no movers, I call again, no answer, no response
7pm- no movers, I call again, no answer, no response
7:30pm- no movers, I call again, no answer, no response
8:00pm- no movers, I call again, no answer, no response.
I leave a message saying that this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and that I want my deposit back and will find other movers.
8:05pm- I go to the street to remove the signs blocking off the parking spaces in front of my city house and a moving truck is pulling up.

The movers get out. I say "You are three hours late." Their response, "Oh, yeah. Traffic. Delays." Just nonsensical [EDIT]. No apology.

I ask for ID. The driver gives me a hard time asking why do I need to see his ID. I say sarcastically that he is taking all my belongings and I would like to at least know his name. He shows me his license. They do not have uniforms. They do not have ID that says Liberty Bell Moving Group or any other moving group.

They load up my stuff.

At the end of loading, at 1am with a 2.5 hour drive ahead of us, the driver tells me that I have taken up twice as much square footage as the estimate says and that I owe them an extra $1000 dollars in cash or money order. I say that I specifically asked repeatedly if the truck would be weighed and was told every time that yes it would be. I said that we would wait for the final weight before I pay him any more than the estimate.

He say he is giving me a deal, dramatically crossing off this charge and that charge and that he graciously won't even charge me the "stairs fee". I say I have a 2 story house and that I read my contract and know that 1 flight of stairs is included in the price. I also say that I do not take and extra $1000 to be a "deal". When I read the contract, one of the crossed off fees was for "piano moving". I do not have a piano.

I ask what time I can expect them in the morning. The driver says "10:30am, we need to sleep."

We part ways and I drive to my new home. I arrive at 3:30am.

Sunday morning:
10:30am- no movers, no call from the movers, I know better than to call the office
11am- no movers, no call from the movers
11:30am- no movers, no call from the movers
12:00pm- no movers, no call from the movers
12:30pm- no movers, no call from the movers
1pm- They arrive 2.5 hours late.

They unload my stuff. I help, as this ordeal cannot be over quick enough for me.

My dressers and wood furniture is loaded without blankets, without wrapping, without any buffers. My one bedroom dresser is lying on the truck floor with the right finished side down, with no padding. My other bedroom dresser is stacked on top of the other one, finished sides rubbing against each other without any padding. There was almost no padding used at all. At the end of unloading, there were maybe 3 blankets on the ground. Upon inspection, almost every furniture piece had at least 1 serious gouge in it. Not just litte scratches, deep gouges down to the bare wood.

When we got to the end of my furniture, there was another load on the truck. Every. Single. Piece. of that load was bubble wrapped securely. I didn't even bother to ask why such care was taken with the other people's belongings and not mine, nor did I report the damaged furniture. I realized at this point that there would be no help from customer service nor responsibility for the damage.

At the end of the unload, the driver again tries to get me to pay him cash for the estimate plus $1000. I again refuse. He says he will refund my cash if I am underweight after going to the weigh station. I say I will pay them the estimate and if I am over weight, they can bill me. The weigh station is far away. The driver puts me on the phone with his "dispatcher". I tell him the same. He oks it.

The driver texts me the next day with the truck weight. (Estimate 3343 lbs, actual 3040 lbs) I am 300 pounds under weight. Technically, he owes me $100. I say forget it. No apology for almost charging me an extra $1000. No nothing. And I actually have no way of knowing that the other people's stuff was still on the truck. It could have been completely empty and they could have owed me even more.

I never received any calls from the company from the time Jessica said she would give the movers my number at 5:30pm Saturday night. I was tremendously relieved when this ordeal was over. Stay as far away from this company as possible.

Long-distance move from Phoenix, AZ to Avon, OH

Fraudulent Company.

I wouldn't even give a star if I had the option. This is the most unethical, rude, disrespectful and fraudulent company I have every encountered. Long story short, I dealt with Jeff Brannan. Seems like a great guy, willing to help, until you need to sign up and need to cancel. I had a very tentative move so I needed to find a company that would allow me to cancel. I read their cancel policy and it reads as "Written notice must be provided and received no later than 72 hours..you will receive a full refund less 10%..If you cancel within 7 days of your move date you will not receive a refund." It doesn't state the refund amount after 72 hours but before 7 days so I read that to be that up to 7 days you get a refund less 10%. BUT, to clarify, prior to signing ANYTHING I emailed Jeff and SPECIFICALLY asked, "If I cancel AFTER the 72 hour cxl window do I get a FULL refund less the 10%, he responded, in writing, YES, there is a 10% cancellation fee. That is the ONLY reason I signed the contract. So I tried to cxl and Jeff called and said "you know you aren't getting any money back" proceeded to simply recite the contract and said I told you 7 days. Kevin, the Customer Service Manager?? call and was exceptionally rude and literally laughed at me and said you are not getting any money back. You are bound by the contract. I told him about the email, sent him the email and he called back and said Jeff never told me I would get a refund, he simply restated the contract?? They tell everyone they are an A+ withe the BBB but that is an address out of Denver when all their business is done out of Florida and that rating is an F. They lie and state that the only reason they have an F is because the BBB is trying to extort them for $700 to get an A. I said I will be filing a complaint against them and a review and Kevin responded Good, I look forward to reading it.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Maryland

Horrible experience!

It is absurdly wrong that this company has four stars. My hands hurt to give them one but there is no other option. I'm sharing my experience to warn potential customers, you decide whether you want to deal with a business like this. Here is how they operate:
1) Before signing a contract with them they say that the pickup and delivery will be completed as scheduled, that their company has 5-star reviews (which is actually 4) and that they aren't like others that keep customers' stuff in storage for months until they fill up the truck.
2) Only after movers arrived at my place did they disclose that the delivery could take 4-14 days, instead of initially claimed 'few days'. To my question whether it could take 14 days they said they were legally required to say so but it would be faster.
3) The 'contract' you sign with them is actually a job estimate. You will see a real contract for the first time when movers arrive for a pick up. This contract is couple pages and even if you have time to go through the fine print, which they plan to use against you later, you most likely won't cancel the job at that point because a) you are losing your deposit, b) in my case I was flying out the next day, I wouldn't have time to look for and book other movers. Part of responsibility lies with me here, I should've insisted to see a contract before I paid the deposit but I didn't have any prior long distance move experience and couldn't imagine how fraudulent businesses can be in this area. I did request contract later, after my stuff was picked up but the response I was getting from this company for more than 2 weeks was that they couldn't get the copy from the movers. Don't repeat this mistake!
4) As there was no delivery in sight after 4 days I called to check the status. That's when their true colors started to come out in its full glory. They started referring to the 4-14 day window even after 4 days were long gone. They promised they'd call the 'driver' and have an accurate delivery time, which they never provided. I was repeatedly told that the 'driver' was not getting back to them because "he was driving and he was busy." They kept saying that I would get a call from the 'driver' soon, which has not happened until 1 hour prior to delivery, which instead of 4-14 days took place on 7/13 (with the pick up date of 6/15). After countless calls they admitted that my stuff was in a storage somewhere in NC, which was the base for the movers that they had subcontracted for my move. Sometime in the week of 6/26 they said the delivery would take place on either Friday, 6/30, Saturday 7/1 or Sunday, 7/2, which of course was a lie. On 7/1, Saturday evening they said the driver was on his way to me for Sunday delivery, which obviously didn't happen. I managed to obtain the number of the branch manager. He provided a number for Kristina, and instructed me to call her and tell her 'figure it out'. Kristina never answered the call and her voicemail didn't accept the messages. The branch manager never took my call again, needless to say he didn't bother to return my calls and messages. On Monday 7/7, I was told that the delivery would take place "during this weekend", which was 7/7, 7/8, 7/9. An interesting side note here: as I was searching the web for the manager's number (which by the way is nowhere available) I came across another company which has a very similar name, they said they get a lot of angry calls and complaints but of course they didn't have any affiliation with this business. Just goes to show how many people are scammed and deceived.
5) I finally got the call from the driver and a dispatch manager (who by the way never answered my calls before) only 1 hour prior to the estimated time he'd be at my place. As he showed up I was asked to pay third portion of the total amount before he started unloading. It was not sufficient for them to already have $900 in their pocket for about a month, that despite numerous requests I didn't have any proof of payment for the second portion of $465 and a copy of the contract. The driver insisted that if I didn't pay he'd leave and it would cost an additional $600 to re-deliver. I had to call police to make sure I could get the delivery safely. Two interesting points here: 1) that's when fine print in the contract comes handy - it says you have to pay before they unload the truck. 2) the driver said a customer before me had called the police too. I heard the police joking - you've got this down, don't you?
6) From the severely damaged items some were broken, some abused to the extent of being unrecognizable, some stuff is just missing. I have submitted a report, will see what happens.
7) Finally, if you have a pleasure to speak with Shannon, you will be treated with rudeness that truly fits the company like this.

Long-distance move from Vancouver, WA to Portland, OR

Never use this company.

This was the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. They simply did not care that my goods were not being handled properly and company they brokered to were high, caught red handed smoking weed in their truck, and held my goods hostage until I paid them in cash for extra time and re-delivery fees.

The 10 mile move took 2 days, because the workers were incredibly slow. My boyfriend and I moved no less than 1/4 of the loads ourselves to try and speed up the process. We had packed almost everything ourselves, even had the mattresses were pre-wrapped and ready to go. Nothing was re-assembled upon delivery or inventoried.

We then caught them smoking weed in the truck. Because it took them so long they had to finish the next day and I was charged a re-delivery fee- When I tried to dispute the next morning, the driver drove away and would not let me discuss with his manager. The manager would not call me back, and the broker, Liberty Bell said that there is nothing they can do. In order to get my goods back, they forced us to pay in cash, up front, before they would unload our goods 2 days later. We had extensive damage and neither NW Relocation or Liberty Bell Moving had any remorse or felt any accountability for the fact that we had unfit workers. Instead, it was my fault for rebuking the re-delivery fee and because I was "untrustworthy" I had to pay cash for the additional fees or I would not be able to get my goods back.

Kevin in customer service told me his relationship with the companies he brokers with is more important than the service they provide so he cannot come down on them- he has to maintain a good relationship. Literally had no concern for the service I was provided.

Long-distance move from Springfield, MA to Daytona Beach, FL

Extremely satisfied.

As I recently moved from Massachusetts to Florida, Liberty Bell Moving Group contacted me for a quote. From the very start they stood out with their amazing customer service. I was provided an extremely reasonable quote so my husband and I decided to pull the trigger and hire. Pickup went surprisingly smooth. Their customer service facilitated my whole move and everything went very well. There was, however, an initial problem at pickup due to recently bought items that were considered to be extra and not included in the original quote. We contacted Liberty Bell immediately and spoke to their customer service manager Kevin Brown. He was able to help us tremendously with a discounted price for our newly purchased items. I will say that both my husband and I are hundred percent satisfied. We will definitely refer Liberty Bell Moving Group to our friends and family who may be moving in the future.
